Area of Effect

Area of Effect (AoE) describes attacks and Spells that affect every model within a placed template rather than a single target.

Common template shapes:

• Circular S / M / L — small, medium or large circular templates centred on the targeted point.
• Spray S / L — cone-shaped templates extending from the model.

AoE attacks are usually combined with the Targetless Trait, which lets the user aim at any point on the field within Reach (rather than at a model); every model under the template is then affected. A target struck only by being under the template is not a chosen target, so AoE can catch Shrouded or Flying models.

Note: players may not pre-measure an AoE by placing a template before committing to the Attack (see Awareness).
