Cover is protection a piece of scenery provides to a model against Ranged Attacks.

A Size Small, Medium or Large model has Cover against Ranged Attacks if it is within 1 inch of a scenery piece that is higher than the model's base and at least partially obscures the model's Hitbox from the attacker's Line of Sight. If the model is not within 1 inch of the cover at the point of being shot, it gains no benefit.
Cover reduces incoming attack modifiers. Light Cover: −3 modifier. Heavy Cover: −6 modifier. A model has Cover when the attacker can draw a line through a piece of terrain within 1" of the target.

There are two types of Cover:

* Light Cover — the object is smaller or thinner than the model's size → −2 modifier to the attacker's Ranged Attack.
* Heavy Cover — the object is both taller and wider than the model's size → −4 modifier to the attacker's Ranged Attack.

Note: a Targetless Ranged Attack that targets the ground near the model (rather than the model) ignores the Cover modifier, while the model can still be caught in the effect.

A (meksmaks, May 17, 2026): Yes — Cover and Haze Bombs stack.

Q: If the Protector steps in front of an attack, do Cover modifiers use the Protector's position or the original target's?

A (deokel, May 10, 2026): All modifiers — including Cover — apply based on the Protector's actual position. Smart positioning of the Protector is rewarded by the rules.
