Spell Attack is an Attack Action performed by casting an offensive Spell (typically of the Sorcery type).
- Casting uses Intellect (INT) unless the Spell states otherwise; the caster must have the matching Affinity (Element).
- Every Spell is Ranged, Melee, or both (Ranged/Melee). This delivery type decides whether the cast behaves as a Ranged Attack or a Melee Attack; if the Spell is Ranged/Melee, the attacker chooses which one to use when declaring the Attack.
- A Spell cast as a Melee attack follows all Melee Attack rules, so Melee effects apply to it — for example Sweep (which hits every model in Melee RCH) works in a Melee Spell exactly as it does in a normal Melee weapon attack. A Spell cast as a Ranged attack follows the Ranged Attack rules and can be reduced by Cover.
- If an Enchantment grants the model the "Spell" type (the ✯ Power symbol), its Attacks count as Spell Attacks for effects such as Resistance (Spell).
