During the Reaction Step of an Activation Sequence, the Reactive Player's models may react to the activated model.
<!-- PAGE: Reactions -->
Reactions allow the Reactive Player to respond to the Activated model's actions by spending Activation Points. A Reaction can only be a Normal Action.

* Cost: 1 AP per model; several models may react to one activation — declare each one's Action. A Reaction may target only the activated model.
* Needs LoS to the activated model at any point of its Movement; if it moves inside your Awareness, you may react with Dodge even without LoS.

Core Rules
If the reacting model is Engaged — only Melee Attack / Assist (self) / Dodge.

Who Can React
* Only models in the Reactive Role can declare Reactions.
* A reacting model must spend 1 Activation Point to declare a Reaction.
* A model may only target the Activated model with its Reaction — never another model.
* More than one reactive model can react against the same Activated model in a single Activation Sequence.

When to Declare
Reactions are declared during the Reaction Step (Step 3 of the Activation Sequence):
# The Reactive Player declares which models react and against which Activated model.
# Each reacting model declares its Normal Action.
# If the Reaction is an Attack, the Reactive Player must also declare: the type of attack (Melee or Ranged), which Items, Skills, or Combat Arts are used.

LoS Requirement
* A Reaction normally requires Line of Sight towards the Activated model at any point during its Movement.
* Exception — Dodge: A model may declare Dodge even without LoS, as long as the Activated model is within its Awareness.
* Exception Dodge without LoS: If the reacting model never had LoS during the Movement Step, the Dodge must be performed with halved Agility.

If the Activated model moves within the Reach of a reactive model's Melee Weapon, the reactive model may declare an Attack of Opportunity at that point along the movement path.

# Declare the Attack of Opportunity at the moment the Activated model enters your Reach.
# Then measure Reach to confirm — if the model is not within Reach, the Attack does not apply.
# If the Activated model is within Reach, the Attack proceeds.

Restrictions
* A Ranged Attack of Opportunity is also valid while the enemy is moving toward you.
* If an Attack of Opportunity is declared (even if it fails), the model cannot declare a different Reaction in the same Activation Sequence.
* All attack modifiers (Cover, RCH, etc.) still apply to Attacks of Opportunity.

Reaction Against Shrouded or Flying Models
If a reacting model has declared Dodge or Perceive and the Activated model:
* is in the Shrouded or Flying State, and
* declares an Attack

...the reacting model may change its Dodge/Perceive declaration to an Attack immediately after the Activated model's Action Step.

Notes
* A reactive model cannot react against models outside its Awareness, even when Engaged.
* When both Active and Reactive models declare Dodge simultaneously, the Active player chooses the resolution order.
* Foresight allows a model that did not declare a Reaction in the Reaction Step to declare one during the Action Step instead, after the Active model has declared its Action.

During the Reaction Step of an Activation Sequence, the Reactive Player's models may react to the activated model.

 • Cost: 1 AP per model; several models may react to one activation — declare each one's Action. A Reaction may target only the activated model.
 • Needs LoS to the activated model at any point of its Movement; if it moves inside your Awareness, you may react with Dodge even without LoS.

What a reacting model may declare

[edit | edit source]

Normal Actions only; Special Actions and Special Movement — never.

Attack
Declare type and means (Ranged/Melee, Skills, Items, Combat Arts); the reactor's STK = 1. Ranged: also declare the exact visible point on the target's path.
Dodge
The only Reaction available without LoS (if the target is within Awareness).
Assist
Targeting itself or other allies (e.g. protective spells).
Perceive
Vs the token (e.g. Shrouded) of the activated model within Awareness; with LoS it converts into an Attack vs Shrouded/Flying (below).
Nothing
Do nothing (incl. forced, e.g. while Panicked).

If the reacting model is Engaged — only Melee Attack / Assist (self) / Dodge.

Attack of Opportunity

[edit | edit source]

You may react mid-movement — at the point where the enemy (allegedly) enters your Melee Reach; then measure. Out of Reach → no effect, and after an AoO (even a failed one) that model may not declare another Reaction this Sequence. A Ranged AoO vs a model moving toward you is legal; if it then declares Melee Attack, Confrontation triggers. Modifiers apply as usual.

Vs a Shrouded/Flying attacker

[edit | edit source]

A reactor that declared Dodge or Perceive with LoS may convert it into an Attack right after the enemy's Action Step.
