| '''Q:''' What's the resolution order for an Attack with Sweep?
| |
| | |
| '''A (Dockel):''' Attack roll(s) → if the Target is Hit, Sweep procs → damage roll(s) on all affected models → if at least one Wound is dealt to the Target, Finishing Strike can be used against the Target (with the possibility of another Sweep).
| |
| | |
| ----
| |
| | |
| '''Q:''' Can a Flying model be hit by a melee Sweep, and do models hit by Sweep count as targets?
| |
| | |
| '''A (Dockel):''' A Flying model cannot be targeted by a melee attack (unless it chooses to melee attack itself), but it will take a Hit if it is within RCH of a Sweep attack that Hit another target. Per STK there is a single target; models hit by Sweep are not 'targets'. You can even Sweep Shrouded models if you can hit someone next to them.
| |
| | |
| ----
| |
| | |
| '''Q:''' What's the difference between Sweep and Cleave?
| |
| | |
| '''A (Dockel):''' Sweep is a wide arc attack (roll damage separately for each affected model), while Cleave is a single attack so powerful it deals double damage (one extra Wound as long as at least 1 Wound was dealt).
| |
| | |
| ----
| |
| | |
| '''Q:''' A model shows Knockdown X, but the rules have no X value for Knockdown. What's correct?
| |
| | |
| '''A (meksmaks):''' The description should simply read Knockdown — the X belongs to the Fencing IV combat art. Treat it as plain Knockdown.
| |
| | |
| ----
| |
| | |
| '''Q:''' If I hit my Target (A1) and also hit A2/A3 with the same attack, do they all get Knockdown?
| |
| | |
| '''A (Dockel):''' They are Hit by the attack, but only the Target (A1) is Hit with Knockdown. With a Targetless weapon you can't apply Knockdown at all, since you'd be 'tripping' the point used for Targetless rather than a model.
| |
| | |
| ----
| |
| | |
| '''Q:''' How does Burn deal its damage?
| |
| | |
| '''A (Dockel / meksmaks):''' Burn only triggers if the initial attack dealt at least 1 Wound. You then roll additional Burns based on the Burn (X) value, against the attack's PW and ignoring the target's ARM — these are extra rolls, not auto-wounds.
| |
| | |
| ----
| |
| | |
| '''Q:''' Does Duelist stop everyone from using Combat Arts I–III, or only the targeted model?
| |
| | |
| '''A (Dockel):''' A model targeted by Duelist cannot use its I–III Combat Arts; if it declared such a Combat Art in reaction and is then targeted by Duelist, that Combat Art's effect is voided. Level IV is unaffected.
| |
| | |
| ----
| |
| | |
| '''Q:''' How many times can Finishing Strike trigger per activation?
| |
| | |
| '''A (Dockel):''' Only once per activation sequence — a Wound happens only a single time.
| |
| | |
| ----
| |
| | |
| '''Q:''' When does Chain Attack trigger?
| |
| | |
| '''A (Dockel):''' Chain Attack requires a successful Hit made by another friendly model, and it is rolled on the Hit, not on the Damage/Wound.
| |
| | |
| ----
| |
| | |
| '''Q:''' If several models wound a Berserker in the same activation sequence, can it ignore all the wounds?
| |
| | |
| '''A (Dockel / meksmaks):''' Yes — Berserker can nullify all simultaneous damage rolls, even from different attackers. The Berserker roll happens when the model is to suffer a Wound (after the damage rolls); effects like Cleave, Burn and Finishing Strike occur on Wounding, so if Berserker negates the wounding damage, those effects don't apply either.
| |
| | |
| ----
| |
| | |
| '''Q:''' How does Hit and Retreat interact with Impede?
| |
| | |
| '''A (Dockel):''' As soon as Engaged is dropped via Hit and Retreat, a model with Impede that is in melee RCH can declare an Attack of Opportunity, which — thanks to the Impede ruling — instantly re-applies the Engaged state and stops the model.
| |
| | |
| ----
| |
| | |
| '''Q:''' Can Impede be triggered just by declaring intent to attack?
| |
| | |
| '''A (Dockel):''' No. For Impede, the point of Attack means the attack must actually be happening — Impede can't be procced by merely announcing intent.
| |
| | |
| ----
| |
| | |
| '''Q:''' How do STK and Quantity interact for Consumables versus Throwing weapons?
| |
| | |
| '''A (Dockel):''' Consumables — X STK uses a single Quantity. Throwing — X STK uses X Quantity (e.g., throwing 2 daggers uses both).
| |
| | |
| ----
| |
| | |
| '''Q:''' My model is attacked and attacks back, while other enemies also attack it. Who participates in the confrontation?
| |
| | |
| '''A (meksmaks / Dockel):''' Confrontation occurs only between two models that are targeting each other. Other attacks simply go through. A successful Attack Roll is one that has already passed (wasn't cancelled by) the confrontation.
| |
| | |
| ----
| |
| | |
| '''Q:''' When is the Assassination IV effect (all crits) applied — before or after the confrontation roll?
| |
| | |
| '''A (Dockel):''' After confrontation, because attack rolls become confrontation rolls, which only count as successful if they meet the winning confrontation criteria.
| |
| | |

| == Reactions & Stealth ==
| |
| | |
| '''Q:''' Can you use Attack of Opportunity against a model with Stealth that begins its activation outside your Line of Sight?
| |
| | |
| '''A (meksmaks):''' To target it you need Line of Sight — Stealth I voids even Clairvoyance. With no LoS against an Active model with Stealth, there is no chance to react. If you gain LoS during its movement: Dodge is always possible; Attack of Opportunity is possible only if both LoS and RCH are met at the same time during the Active model's Movement Step.
| |
| | |
| ----
| |
| | |
| '''Q:''' As a reactive player, does Fencing I (the −3 modifier) work even when I'm out of actions?
| |
| | |
| '''A (Dockel):''' To use Combat Arts you must target an enemy model, which cannot be done without spending an Activation Token.
| |
| | |
| ----
| |
| | |
| '''Q:''' Is Attack of Opportunity available in the Active role?
| |
| | |
| '''A (meksmaks):''' No — Attack of Opportunity is a Reaction; it isn't used in the Active role.

|
| |
|
| '''Q:''' If several models are under an AoE attack and one declares Dodge, is the whole attack cancelled?
| | == [[Line of Sight|Line of Sight]] == |
| | |
| '''A (Dockel):''' Dodge is not a confrontation, so it doesn't cancel the attack. A model that passes its Dodge simply ignores it; others under the template who didn't Dodge are still Hit if the attack succeeded.

| '''Q:''' Can I use Protector and also declare an Attack or Dodge by spending a second AP in the same reaction? | | '''Q:''' How many lines do you need to draw to establish Line of Sight? |
|
| |
|
| '''A (meksmaks):''' Yes, but the order is reversed. First you declare Dodge or Attack in the Reaction step; then, in the Action step after the Active model declares its Attack, you use Protector. | | '''A (meksmaks, Jun 24, 2026):''' You only need to draw 1 line to be considered as having LoS. The player commanding the attacking model chooses which line to draw. If you can also draw a line that passes through terrain/obstruction, apply its Cover effect accordingly. |

| |
|
| '''Q:''' Does Protector work against a Finishing Strike, and does the Protector need LoS to the attack's target? | | '''Q:''' Can a model use another model (friend or foe) as Cover? |
|
| |
|
| '''A (Dockel):''' Finishing Strike can only be used against the Targets of an Attack. If Protector became the new Target, only Protector is a valid model for Finishing Strike. The Protector does not need LoS to the original target. | | '''A (meksmaks, Jun 24, 2026):''' Models can block off LoS to one another, but they do not provide Cover per se. The Cover section begins with 'a piece of scenery' — Cover requires terrain, not models. |
|

|
| |
|
| '''Q:''' Can I declare an Attack against a Shrouded enemy? | | '''Q:''' If a model's Hitbox is only partially visible, does it have Cover? |
|
| |
|
| '''A (Dockel):''' No. The Shrouded state restricts targeting the model with any action other than Perceive. You can't declare an Attack on it. If you declared Dodge or Perceive against a Shrouded model and it reveals itself, you may switch your Reaction. | | '''A (meksmaks, Jun 24, 2026):''' If any player can draw a line between attacker and target that passes through terrain (wider and taller than the target) and the target is within 1" of that terrain, the target has Heavy Cover. |
|

|
| |
|
| '''Q:''' Can you affect a Shrouded model with a Targetless AoE spell? | | '''Q:''' Which models cannot benefit from Cover at all? |
|
| |
|
| '''A (Dockel):''' You're not targeting the model, but you can target a visible point nearby thanks to the Targetless rule, and a Shrouded model under the template will be affected. | | '''A (meksmaks, Jun 24, 2026):''' Models larger than Size: Large cannot get Cover. |
|

|
| |
|
| '''Q:''' Does a Sentinel with Vigilance see in all directions and resist Surprise Attack? | | '''Q:''' Does Cover apply if some LoS lines are clear and others pass through terrain? |
|
| |
|
| '''A (meksmaks):''' Yes — Vigilance grants 360° awareness and immunity to Surprise Attack, and it keeps STK 2 on reactive shots. To shut it down, engage it in melee first. | | '''A (deokel, Jun 24, 2026):''' You only need one unobstructed line to establish LoS. But if any player can simultaneously draw a line through terrain, Cover applies — even if another line is unobstructed. The attacking player chooses the LoS line; Cover is assessed separately from any line that passes through relevant terrain. |

| '''Q:''' Does Regeneration work while a model is Incapacitated, even if it was granted by an Enchantment?
| |
|
| | |
| '''A (meksmaks / Dockel):''' Skills and Classes don't work while Incapacitated — you must pass the Recovery Roll first. An Enchantment that grants Regeneration only gives the Skill; the model still can't use it while Incapacitated.

|

| '''A (Dockel):''' If the spell is not an Enchantment or Healing type, you can perform a reactive Assist on an allied model with it. Ward is a valid Assist in reaction, while Enchantments can't be cast in reaction. | | '''A (meksmaks, May 17, 2026):''' Yes — Cover and Haze Bombs stack. |

|
| '''A (meksmaks):''' Dispel must be cast as an Attack to remove a Summon, so it must target the creature (you can't use Targetless). Just as it can be Dodged, it can also be avoided with a Ward. | | '''A (deokel, May 10, 2026):''' All modifiers — including Cover — apply based on the Protector's actual position. Targetless reactions like Dodge don't trigger Charm. | | '''A (meksmaks, Mar 15, 2026):''' Yes. | | '''A (meksmaks, May 06–17, 2026):''' To perform an unmodified STK 1 means you cannot modify the STK value at all. In the 1.6 ruleset, hard caps on STK — such as those from Crouched, Dash, or Flying — are intended to be unmodifiable. |
| | |
| '''A (Dockel):''' Yes. Being Engaged only affects the Declaration of Movement. With Protector you don't Declare Movement, so you can break the Engaged state that way. | |

| '''Q:''' How does Dash enable Hit and Retreat?
| |
|

| '''Q:''' Yes, but the question was related to when you decide how many dice you roll, not when you distribute STK. I'm not for either side here, I just want to play the game correctly 😁 So if I understand correctly - for the amount of STK you assign to a model you MUST then roll that many dice in the resolution step? The note in the Strikes & Hits is a bit missleading then, incinuating that number of STK and the number of dice you decide to roll is not the same and they are not decided at the same time (if they are it should just say that you must roll the amount of dice equal to the STK assigned to a target but you can cummulatively assign less strikes than the STK value). The same goes for the example of the Activation sequence, where it says STK allows the opponent to roll X dice equal to his STK. Could he roll less if he wants? I'm asking this because if you decide how many dice you're going to roll in the resolution step there is nothing stoping you to say I roll 0 against a Redirect damage cast, since you already know your opponent is casting it (even if its not succesful yet). However if your have to say how many STK and with that how many dice you are going to roll, it makes Redirect damage an actual threat since you know dice are going to be rolled. All choices are made on the action reaction step. The resolution step just plays it out. (Unless it says otherwise like hit and retreat )

| '''A (meksmaks, Jun 23, 2026):''' Don't worry, I know you didn't ask for Celts, it's just that we as Freecompany want to be transparent about our capacities and vision for the future. We certainly wouldn't want someone to be disappointed thinking we promised Celts just because there's a Druid class in the rulebook

These are community clarifications, not official errata. Always check the latest rulebook first.
Q: How many lines do you need to draw to establish Line of Sight?
A (meksmaks, Jun 24, 2026): You only need to draw 1 line to be considered as having LoS. The player commanding the attacking model chooses which line to draw. If you can also draw a line that passes through terrain/obstruction, apply its Cover effect accordingly.
Q: Can a model use another model (friend or foe) as Cover?
A (meksmaks, Jun 24, 2026): Models can block off LoS to one another, but they do not provide Cover per se. The Cover section begins with 'a piece of scenery' — Cover requires terrain, not models.
Q: If a model's Hitbox is only partially visible, does it have Cover?
A (meksmaks, Jun 24, 2026): If any player can draw a line between attacker and target that passes through terrain (wider and taller than the target) and the target is within 1" of that terrain, the target has Heavy Cover.
Q: Which models cannot benefit from Cover at all?
A (meksmaks, Jun 24, 2026): Models larger than Size: Large cannot get Cover.
Q: Does Cover apply if some LoS lines are clear and others pass through terrain?
A (deokel, Jun 24, 2026): You only need one unobstructed line to establish LoS. But if any player can simultaneously draw a line through terrain, Cover applies — even if another line is unobstructed. The attacking player chooses the LoS line; Cover is assessed separately from any line that passes through relevant terrain.
Q: Do Cover and Haze Bombs stack?
A (meksmaks, May 17, 2026): Yes — Cover and Haze Bombs stack.
Q: If the Protector steps in front of an attack, do Cover modifiers use the Protector's position or the original target's?
A (deokel, May 10, 2026): All modifiers — including Cover — apply based on the Protector's actual position. Smart positioning of the Protector is rewarded by the rules.
Q: Do the modifiers from Haze and Cover stack with each other?
A (meksmaks, May 17, 2026): Yes, they stack.
Q: Can Haze Bombs be used in Reaction to target friendly models?
A (meksmaks, Mar 15, 2026): Yes — in Reaction it becomes an Assist. You can target your own models within range, but they must end up fully under the template.
Q: Does placing a Haze Bomb template require a successful ACC roll?
A (meksmaks, Mar 15, 2026): Yes. In the Active Role it is a Targetless action, but it is still an Attack/Assist requiring an ACC roll (plus any Reroll).
Q: What does 'unmodified STK 1' mean — can it be boosted by other effects?
A (meksmaks, May 06–17, 2026): To perform an unmodified STK 1 means you cannot modify the STK value at all. In the 1.6 ruleset, hard caps on STK — such as those from Crouched, Dash, or Flying — are intended to be unmodifiable.
Q: Can you use Attack of Opportunity against a Stealth model that begins its activation outside your LoS?
A (meksmaks, Feb 02, 2026): You need LoS to target — Stealth I voids even Clairvoyance. With no LoS, no Reaction is possible. If you gain LoS during movement: Dodge is always possible; Attack of Opportunity requires both LoS and RCH met simultaneously during the Movement Step; a normal reactive Attack requires LoS to declare and RCH + LoS met during Resolution.
Q: Does a Shrouded model immediately reveal when it declares an Attack?
A (meksmaks / Dockel, Mar 19, 2026): Yes — when a Shrouded model declares an Attack, it reveals itself instantly. Exception: if the target has Vigilance, the Vigilant model can still declare a Reaction.
Q: Does Perceive only work within Awareness range?
A (meksmaks, Mar 19, 2026): Yes — Perceive only works within the model's Awareness.
Q: When a Shrouded model is Perceived, does it reveal at Declaration or only at Resolution?
A (deokel, Mar 19, 2026): Perceive resolves at the Resolution Step — the Shrouded model doesn't reveal at Declaration. If the Shrouded model then declares an Attack before Resolution, it reveals itself at that point. Perceive only works within the Perceiving model's Awareness.
Q: How can a model willingly enter the Crouched state other than by declaring Dodge?
A (meksmaks, Mar 07, 2026): A model may also enter or cancel the Crouched state at the start or end of its Movement Step during its own Activation (Rulebook 1.6, p.41).
Q: Does Vigilance let a Sentinel use full STK on reactive ranged shots?
A (meksmaks, Mar 07, 2026): Yes. Vigilance grants 360° Front arc and immunity to Surprise Attack, and the model keeps its full STK on reactive shots. The best counter is to Engage it in melee first, preventing ranged attacks and limiting LoS to Awareness.
Q: Does an Unarmed attack or a Melee-type Spell (e.g. Flare) create an Engagement zone?
A (meksmaks, Apr 28, 2026): No. You need a Melee Weapon to Engage — even a Dagger qualifies. Unarmed is a specific attack, not a Weapon. Similarly, Flare (a Melee Attack Spell) is not a Weapon and cannot create an Engagement zone.
Q: Can an Incapacitated model still be Engaged?
A (meksmaks, Feb 14, 2026): Yes — an Incapacitated model can still be Engaged. It just cannot act itself. The Reroll of the Recovery Roll is prohibited if either the Incapacitated model or another allied model in Base-to-Base contact is Engaged.
Q: Does holding a Ranged Weapon in hand remove your Engagement zone even if you also carry a sword?
A (deokel, Mar 2026): Yes — when you declare a Ranged Attack, you're holding the Ranged Weapon and have no passive Engagement zone, even if you also own a Melee Weapon. Engagement requires a Melee Weapon to be in hand.
Q: Do two casters in Base-to-Base contact Engage each other if neither has a Melee Weapon?
A (deokel, Apr 28, 2026): No. Only models with a Melee Weapon equipped can Engage. Two models with only spells and accessories (no melee weapons) in Base-to-Base contact are not Engaged — unless their accessory explicitly states it can Engage (like Chanra's staff).
Q: Can Protector void an attack by placing itself behind a wall with no LoS?
A (meksmaks, May 10, 2026): No — Protector cannot void an attack. If the attack was viable against the initial target, treat it as viable against the Protector regardless of its position. All modifiers (Cover, RCH, etc.) are calculated from the Protector's actual position.
Q: Does the Protector's movement count toward triggering Engagement zones, and can it move through walls?
A (meksmaks, May 10, 2026): Protector doesn't Declare Movement — it appears in a legal spot next to the protected model. The ½ SPD limit includes vertical distance. We intend to clarify in a future FAQ that Protector cannot teleport through walls.
Q: Does Cover benefit the Protector after it steps in front of an attack?
A (meksmaks, May 10, 2026): Yes — all modifiers (including Cover) apply based on the Protector's actual position, to reward smart positioning.
Q: Is the movement after a successful Dodge mandatory?
A (meksmaks, Feb 2026): No — Rulebook 1.6, p.57 states the model 'can' move at the end of the Resolution Step. The movement is optional.
Q: If I Dodge a Sweep attack, am I protected from the Sweep's other Hits too?
A (deokel, Feb 2026): Dodge is per-model. If you Dodge successfully, only your model ignores the Hit — other models in range of the Sweep are still affected if the Attack succeeds.
Q: Does Chain Attack trigger on Ranged Attacks and Spells?
A (meksmaks, Jun 17, 2026): Yes. Spells are not a separate attack category — they are a tool that can be Melee or Ranged, just like Weapons. Chain Attack triggers on any successful Hit by another friendly model, regardless of attack type.
Q: As the Reactive player, does Fencing I (−3 modifier) apply even with no Activation Tokens left?
A (Dockel, Feb 2026): No — to use a Combat Art you must target an enemy model, which requires spending an Activation Token.
Q: If Nightshade uses Mastery of Poisons then Cunning Precaution (Assassination II), does she gain Poison I or Poison II?
A (meksmaks, Feb 2026): She gains Poison II. Mastery of Poisons upgrades any Poison I to Poison II, even if gained during that same turn.
Q: Does Chiyohime's Profane Mend stratagem revive a Dead model?
A (meksmaks, May 17, 2026): Yes — this case slipped through the rules. The FAQ will clarify that Profane Mend also cancels the Dead state when it grants 1 HP.
Q: How does Misfortune work — once per die or once per roll? What if a failed die is rerolled into a success?
A (meksmaks, Feb 01, 2026): Misfortune rerolls every successful die once. If you reroll a failed die into a success with another ability, Misfortune still procs and you must reroll that newly-successful die. You may only reroll once per die due to Misfortune, but there is no cap on total dice rerolled.
Q: Does the Warrior class provide any bonus on the model's own Active turn attacks?
A (meksmaks, May 17, 2026): No — Warrior has no positive effect on Active turn attacks. In Active Role, the Great Guard (for example) can have STK 2 on Polearm and STK 3 on other weapons via Second Wind (Fencing III).
Q: When placing an AoE template, what happens if you cannot fully cover the main target?
A (meksmaks, Mar 30, 2026): You cannot perform the attack — analogous to a target being out of RCH. The template must fully cover the main target.
Q: When casting a Targetless AoE in Reaction, does the template need to be centred on the target?
A (meksmaks, Apr 01, 2026): You cannot use Targetless in Reaction. However, AoEs can still be positioned in Reaction — the template needs to fully cover the target (or as much as possible).
Q: Do AoE attacks apply the standard −4 Friendly Fire modifier and the 17–20 target-switch?
A (meksmaks, Apr 02, 2026): AoEs are exempt from the stackable −4 modifier and the 17–20 Friendly Fire rule. However, all Hits that can deal damage (including melee Sweeps) still trigger Friendly Fire rolls. Exception: spells that cannot damage friendly models (e.g. Blinding Light) are fully exempt.
Q: If a healing spell with STK 2 (e.g. A Second Chance, Hastened Recovery) targets the same model twice, does it apply the effect twice?
A (meksmaks, Apr 28, 2026): No. You cannot apply Attack Roll logic to an Assist-type spell. Splitting STK on different targets is fine, but targeting the same model twice does not double the healing.
Q: Does Chain Attack trigger on Spells?
A (meksmaks, Jun 17, 2026): Yes — Spells are not a separate category. They are a tool that can be Melee or Ranged, just like Weapons. Chain Attack triggers on any successful Hit by another friendly model.
Q: Can a Protector on elevated terrain intercept an attack on an ally at a different height?
A (meksmaks, Jun 17, 2026): Yes — Protector requires being within ½ SPD, including vertically. Otherwise it functions as normal.
Q: Is the same spell an Attack or an Assist depending on the target?
A (deokel, Jun 2026): Yes — actions targeting friendly models = Assist; actions targeting enemies = Attack. The same spell can function as either depending on its target. Casting a healing spell on an enemy (if it has a harmful effect) would be an Attack.
Q: With Blinding Light (STK 2 Targetless), can you place two templates in two different spots?
A (meksmaks, Feb 25, 2026): Yes — STK 2 in the Active Phase means you can place two separate templates in completely different spots.
Q: Does the Quest end immediately if all of a player's models are Incapacitated at the start of their turn?
A (bubalosoldier, Apr 17, 2026): Yes — this rule is still valid as written. It is under review, but remains in place until the next rules update.
Q: Does starting your activation already in Base-to-Base contact count as 'coming to base contact'?
A (bubalosoldier, Apr 17, 2026): Yes — starting your activation already in contact counts for effects that trigger on 'come to base contact' (e.g. Agony, Treasure Hunt).
Q: Which is the most accurate source — Guildhall or the online rulebook?
A (meksmaks, Apr 24, 2026): Guildhall is still undergoing updates. The 1.6 online rulebook is the best source of knowledge until Guildhall is fully updated.
Q: Do Hostiles in Skirmish perform Recovery Rolls? Can you pick up an Intrigue while Engaged?
A (meksmaks, May 08, 2026): 1. Hostiles follow the same rules as player models — unless the scenario forbids it, they can attempt Recovery Rolls. 2. If it is not forbidden, it is allowed.
Q: During a Ceasefire scenario rule, can VP still be scored?
A (deokel, Mar 2026): During Ceasefire you cannot score any VP — actions that would normally score VP are wasted during this phase.
Q: How exactly does Sweep resolve — does the initial target get hit first, then others?
A (deokel, Feb 2026): Decomposing Sweep: first you roll for an Attack, and if successful, prior to it becoming a Hit on the Target, you check the Sweep condition. All models within LoS and Melee RCH suffer a Hit simultaneously. It's a broad swing that lands before the initial Hit is even processed.
Q: Can Sweep apply effects like Cleave and Knockdown to all models in range?
A (deokel, Feb 2026): Yes — Sweep is a broad attack. Effects like Cleave and Knockdown apply to all models that suffer a Wound from it, not just the original target.
Q: What is the damage resolution order when Berserker, Finishing Strike, Cleave, and Burn all interact?
A (deokel, Feb–Mar 2026): Resolution happens in simultaneous windows: (1) Initial Damage rolls — Berserker can negate here, which also prevents Cleave, Burn and Finishing Strike from triggering. (2) If a Wound is dealt: Finishing Strike, Cleave, and Burn all resolve simultaneously. Berserker can negate each in their own window. Once a Wound has been dealt and effects triggered, it cannot be retroactively negated.
Q: If Berserker negates the initial Wound, do Cleave, Burn, and Finishing Strike still apply?
A (deokel, Mar 2026): No — if Berserker negates the Wound from the initial Damage roll, Cleave, Burn and Finishing Strike never trigger because those effects are contingent on a model suffering a Wound. They exist in the next simultaneous window only if the Wound was dealt.
Q: Can Berserker negate Wounds from multiple simultaneous Damage rolls (Chain Attack, Sweep, etc.)?
A (deokel, Mar 2026): Yes — Berserker can negate all simultaneous Damage rolls in the same resolution window. Each Wound is rolled separately in T.
Q: Does Impede counter Hit and Retreat?
A (deokel, Feb 2026): Yes — Impede is a hard counter to Hit and Retreat. When a Hit and Retreat model tries to disengage, a model with Impede in Melee RCH can declare an Attack of Opportunity, which immediately re-Engages and stops the Moving model.
Q: Can a Flying model be targeted by a Melee Attack?
A (deokel, Feb 2026): No — a Flying model cannot be targeted by a Melee Attack. However, if the Flying model itself declares a Melee Attack, the opponent can switch their Reaction to an Attack. A Flying model within RCH of a Sweep targeting another model will still receive a Hit from that Sweep.
Q: Does Slowed from a Spell (like Anari's ability) last beyond the end of the turn?
A (deokel, Apr–May 2026): No — Slowed from Anari's spells ends at the end of the turn, similarly to Archery II's Slowed effect. This was confirmed after clarification — the duration got lost during rulebook reorganisation.
Q: How does Ice Shield interact with Burn — does the −3 PW reduction apply to Burn rolls too?
A (deokel, Mar 2026): Yes — Ice Shield's −3 PW reduction applies to Burn damage rolls as well. The second damage roll still has −3 to PW.
Q: Can Berserker negate Wounds from Burn rolls?
A (deokel, Mar 2026): Yes — Burn damage rolls happen in the same simultaneous window as Finishing Strike and Cleave (after the initial Wound). Berserker can roll T for each of these Wounds separately.
